For posterity! The first meeting of the Society, Politics, Animals & Materiality (SPAM) Centre took place on 16 September 2016. Jesse Arseneault, Stephanie Eccles, Rebekah Glendinning, Juawana Grant and Sylvain Lavoie gathered at Rosemary Collard’s apartment to hatch some plans over spam. Kidding – no canned meats were involved. Our tongue in cheek name is inspired by the iconic spam’s collision of culture, capitalism, and meat – well, and by Monty Python of course.
